Hi my name is Steve
. Born in Eureka, CA I grew up in Palo Alto and Los Altos. Attended
Los Altos High School graduating in 1976. While at Los Altos High
I found an interest in auto repair and started taking night classes
at De Anza College's Auto Tech program. In my senior year in high
school I entered the "Plymouth Troubleshooting contest" ,and with
my partner, (and Les Schwoobs leadership) represented De Anza College
and won the written portion of the contest. We then went on to The
"hands on" portion and Won that as well! We then went to the state
run-off and won in record time! We went on to the national contest
and received highest written scores- and in the hands on portion
we were the first car started and second car finished of all the
nation including Car & Driver- Road & Track magazine teams.
We won Scholarships to Chryslers Auto Tech School "Motech" which
I attended in 1977. From there upon returning I furthered my Auto
Education by taking more specialized classes at De Anza Auto Tech.
After Working For Gail Shaw at Foothill Auto Service in Loyola corners
Los Altos, I went out on my own and started "Portable Auto Service"
in 1984. After ten years of service & repair "at your door"
we moved into 1900 Old Middlefield. Since then we have increased
our inventory and equipment to handle all of your automotive needs!
Well after a few years I guess I better add some
new information.. After getting married in May 1999 to Katherine
We now have a son Austin. Born 2/12/02 6 lbs. 13 oz. Since then
he is growing very fast and keeps us both on our toes.
I am still doing a few waterski tournaments each year
(and have qualified for the regionals the past few years) as well
as my piloting my electric RC airplanes and helicopters. I also
have been doing some building & repair for others at our local
field Rancho San Antonio.
Thanks for your interest in Steve Smith's Auto Service.
The Latest News is the birth of our daughter Hannah
Rose 7/2/04 6 lb's 12oz.
She is doing well & growing fast. I will get some
pics up soon.
