My name is Steve Smith and I was born in Eureka, CA. I grew up in Los Altos, CA. I attended Los Altos High School graduating in 1976. At 12 years old I started working at the local gas station. This is where I started getting familiar with cars. A few years later, while a junior at Los Altos High, I persued my interest in auto repair and started taking night classes at De Anza College's Auto Tech program. During my senior year in high school I entered the "Plymouth Troubleshooting Contest". My partner Jim Black and I were working under Les Schwoob's leadership and represented De Anza College. We won the written portion of the contest which qualified us for the "hands on" portion and we won! We then went to the state run-off and we won in record time! We went on to the national contest and received highest written scores. In the "hands on" portion we were the first car started and second car finished out of all the national competitors including Car & Driver and Road & Track magazine teams. We won scholarships to Chrysler's Automotive Tech School "Motech" which I attended in 1977. After working at Foothill Auto Service in Los Altos, I went out on my own and started a "Portable Auto Service" in 1984. After ten years of service "at your door" we moved into 1900 Old Middlefield in Mountain View, CA. Since then we have increased our inventory and equipment to handle all of your automotive needs. I was married in May 1999 and have two beautiful children. I am still doing a few waterski tournaments each year, surfing, and enjoy flying my RC airplanes and helicopters.
